Performance, cost, and risk
What are the performance, cost, and risk impacts of implementing this product?
- Performance: Improved performance of smart services and maintenance operations due to condition monitoring.
- Cost: Costs of training the model and staff to make condition-based maintenance decisions, consultancy costs to guide the implement and guide the transition to condition-based maintenance.
- Risk: Too much or too little reliability focus from organizations, findings from this product were based on a small set of empirical observations and might not translate to the specificities of certain organizations.
Implementation requirements
What capabilities would a business/organization/institution need to have to implement this product?
- Processes: Mature scheduled (preventive) maintenance procedures in which condition-based information can be integrated, with freedom in maintenance planning possible.
- Resources: Asset/component failure data to inform the development of diagnostic decision-making processes, which is often missing.
- Competences: Knowledge of CBM techniques, change management expertise to manage potential resistance to CBM, and a sufficient focus on asset reliability to increase the probability that the technology is seen as valuable.
- Technologies: Maintenance management systems, sensor/monitoring platforms.
